WELCOME TO “DE TOREN VAN BABEL”

“De Toren van Babel” (The Tower of Babel) is a division of the Het Spectrum Gent, specialized in teaching Dutch.

There are two sub-divisions :

1. OKAN : Reception of non-Dutch speakers

* you are between 12 and 18 years old

* you have just arrived in Belgium

* you do not have the Belgian nationality

* you want to start or continue secondary school

* you do not speak Dutch, but wish to learn

* you would like some extra help finding the right school, hobby, holiday camp, sports or youth association

Then OKAN is something for you

2. TAALBAD : Language immersion

* you are a recently arrived non-Dutch speaker

* you have attended either OKAN or a few years of primary school

* you have been a pupil at a Belgian school before, but have not acquired sufficient Dutch

* you want to continue your professional / vocational secondary school education, but you need to improve on Dutch
